- Robert John Downey Jr. (New York, 4 aprile 1965) è un attore e produttore cinematografico statunitense. Debutta sul grande schermo, insieme a suo padre Robert Downey Sr., già all'età di cinque anni. Nel 1993 viene candidato per la prima volta all'Oscar al miglior attore e vince un Premio BAFTA per l'interpretazione di Charlie Chaplin nel film Charlot. Nel 2000 si è unito al cast della serie TV Ally McBeal, grazie alla quale ha ricevuto un Golden Globe per il miglior attore non protagonista in una serie e lo Screen Actors Guild Award per il miglior attore in una serie commedia. A partire dal 2008, Downey si è imposto all'attenzione internazionale grazie al ruolo del supereroe Iron Man. Nel 2009 ha recitato nel film di Guy Ritchie, Sherlock Holmes, vincendo il Golden Globe per il miglior attore in un film commedia o musicale, e nel 2011, nel sequel Sherlock Holmes - Gioco di ombre.
